Context
A live election map for Aragon that shows the vote count at census-section level and updates results in real time.

In our section, I am usually the person in charge of building this type of election map.
For this project, I worked on map implementation and interaction design for section-level exploration.
Data and methodology
The project uses our internal VanillaJS + Mapbox library, which I designed to build election maps quickly with reusable components.
Reusable modules include the filter panel, search box, tooltip system, and other shared UI parts, which speed up production and keep behavior consistent.
Key decisions
- We prioritized census-section granularity so users could inspect results almost street by street.
- We kept interaction simple with filters for winners, vote shares, and change versus 2023.
- The interface was optimized for fast election-night reading while preserving detailed local context.
Result
The final map offered a clear, real-time local view of the Aragon election results.
Impact and learnings
- The project reinforces a reusable election workflow based on shared components and rapid newsroom deployment.
